Budva Old Town by taxi
Budva's walled town sits on a small peninsula at the end of the beach, and like every old town on this coast it is closed to cars. The good news is that the edge of it is easy to reach: one road ends at the marina right beside the walls. This page covers that drop-off, the alternatives when it is jammed, the beaches either side, and the August night problem.

Can a taxi take me to Budva Old Town?
To the edge of it. The walled town is pedestrian, and taxis drop you at the marina entrance directly beside the walls, at the promenade end by the main beach, or up on the road above the town when the waterfront is closed to traffic on summer evenings. Book in MonteGO with 'Budva Old Town' or the marina as the destination; the driver picks the entrance the traffic allows. Rides out start from the same spots.
- Marina entrance: right at the walls, best with luggage
- Promenade end: for the main beach and the bars
- Upper road: the fallback on closed summer evenings
- Bus station: the calm option for airport departures
How to book this ride
Name the entrance
Type 'Budva Old Town marina' or the name of your apartment. If you are unsure, 'Old Town' alone brings you to the marina side.
Confirm and follow the car
A licensed driver accepts, the app shows the car and plate, and the chat translates a quick 'by the marina gate'.
Walk the last stretch and book the way out
The lanes are a few minutes from any entrance. When leaving, request the ride from the same spot; pay the driver directly.

Where a taxi can drop you
The Old Town has one main gate facing the marina and smaller openings towards the beach and the promenade. Based on MonteGO rides, these are the drop-offs people use and when each works:
The marina entrance
The road along the marina ends beside the walls at the main gate. It is the closest a car gets and the right choice with luggage; in high season it can be slow for the last stretch, but it is worth it when you are carrying bags.
The promenade end (Slovenska obala)
Where the seafront walk meets the Old Town, by the main beach. Good for beach days and evenings; the driver stops on the road behind the promenade and you walk through.
The upper road
On summer evenings the waterfront around the Old Town is closed to traffic. Drivers then drop you on the road above the peninsula; it is a short walk downhill and the honest answer to 'why can't we drive closer' in August.
Mogren beach
The two coves west of the walls are reached on foot along a path from the Old Town; there is no road. Ask for the Old Town and walk from there.
Arriving with luggage from the airport
Most guests in the Old Town arrive from Tivat Airport, some from Podgorica. Put the apartment or hotel name in the destination and 'Old Town marina' in the ride note; the driver brings you to the gate and you roll the bags through the lanes, which are flat and short. Hosts in Budva are used to meeting guests at the marina gate. Schedule the pickup for your landing time and the driver is waiting at arrivals; if you booked a late charter, that is a normal request here, not a special one.
Getting a taxi at night
Budva is the loudest place in the country in summer and the Old Town is its stage. Drivers work through the night in season, but where you wait decides how fast the car arrives. Walk up to the road above the peninsula or to the bus station, set the pickup there, and the app shows the car coming. From Bečići, Rafailovići or Pržno, the return after a night out is short and routine; from Kotor or Tivat it is a normal intercity ride, best booked before you leave the club rather than on the pavement outside it.
From the Old Town to the rest of the Riviera
The Old Town is the natural starting point for the Riviera. Sveti Stefan and its viewpoint are down the coast road; Kotor's walled town is over the ridge; Cetinje and the Lovćen serpentine are inland; Petrovac and the beaches south of it are an easy afternoon. Every one of these works as a taxi ride booked from the marina or the upper road, with the return requested in the app when you are ready or scheduled in advance. The route pages below cover the Budva rides in detail.
Walking, buses and parking
Honest comparison. From anywhere in central Budva, the Old Town is a walk along the promenade and you rarely need a car. Local buses along the Riviera stop on the main road above the town and are cheap for daytime hops to Bečići or Sveti Stefan. Parking near the walls is scarce all summer and gone by mid-morning; if you have a rental car, leave it at your accommodation and walk or take a taxi in. For the airport, for late nights and for trips with luggage, a licensed taxi booked in the app is the practical option.
Common questions
No, the walled town is pedestrian. Taxis drop and collect you at the marina entrance beside the walls, at the promenade end by the main beach, or on the upper road when the waterfront is closed on summer evenings.
The marina entrance. The road ends at the main gate and the lanes inside are flat and short. Put the apartment name in the ride note so the driver can suggest the best gate.
Walk up to the road above the peninsula or to the bus station and set the pickup there. The streets around the walls are closed in the evenings in July and August, and a car reaches the upper road in minutes.
Book a MonteGO taxi with the hotel or apartment as the destination and 'Old Town marina' in the note. Schedule the pickup for your landing time and the driver waits at arrivals. The ride comes over the ridge and down to the coast.
There is no road to Mogren; it is a short path from the Old Town along the cliff. Ask for the Old Town drop-off and walk from there.
Directly to the driver at the end of the ride, in cash or by card on the driver's terminal. There is no charge in the app and no booking fee.
