Sveti Stefan by taxi
The islet on every Montenegro postcard is a short ride down the Riviera from Budva, and the way you arrive decides what you see. This page explains where a taxi can drop you, which viewpoint is the one from the photographs, how the beaches on either side of the causeway work, and how to get back when the afternoon is over.

Where a taxi can drop you at Sveti Stefan
Sveti Stefan is two places. Up on the coast road is the village of the same name, with cafés, apartments and the viewpoint over the islet; down a steep lane is the causeway, with the beaches on both sides and the gate to the island itself. A taxi can reach both, and choosing the right one matters because the walk between them is short but sharply uphill.
The viewpoint on the main road
The photograph everyone takes is from the main road above the islet, where the driver can stop briefly by the lay-by and cafés. If you only want the view and a coffee, ask for this.
The causeway and beaches
The lane winds down to a small turning area by the causeway. Drivers drop you here for a beach day or for the walk into Miločer park; in July and August the lane can be slow, so a few minutes of patience is normal.
Miločer and the Queen's Beach
The wooded park north of the islet, with two quiet coves, is reached on foot from the causeway along the shore path. Ask for the causeway drop-off and walk from there.
Pržno
The fishing village on the next bay, with restaurants on the water, is a separate drop-off that many visitors combine with Sveti Stefan for lunch.
From Budva and the Riviera
Most visitors come from Budva, Bečići or Rafailovići, and the ride is the easiest one on the Riviera: along the coast road through the tunnels, past Pržno, and down to the islet. It is short enough to be a spontaneous afternoon and works equally well from Petrovac in the other direction. Book in the app when you decide to go; drivers are always circulating along this stretch in season.
If you are travelling as a group or a family with beach gear, the standard car takes it comfortably. The return is the part to think about: at the end of a beach day, in the late afternoon, the whole Riviera heads back to Budva at once, and booking the ride before you climb up from the causeway saves standing in the sun.
From Tivat Airport to Sveti Stefan
Guests staying in Sveti Stefan village or at the resorts around Miločer and Pržno arrive through Tivat Airport. The ride leaves the bay, crosses to the coast at Budva and continues down the Riviera; it is a straightforward transfer with luggage, and scheduling the pickup for your landing time means the driver is at arrivals when you walk out. Put the hotel or the apartment name in the destination: the village lanes are narrow and the right door matters.
When to go and what changes in summer
Early morning and the hour before sunset give the best light on the islet and the emptiest viewpoint. In July and August the lane to the causeway and the coast road through Bečići are at their slowest around midday and again at the end of the afternoon; a taxi does not avoid the traffic, but it does avoid the search for parking, which at Sveti Stefan in high season is the harder problem. Outside the summer months the beaches empty out and the ride is quick from anywhere on the Riviera.
Other ways to reach Sveti Stefan
Honest comparison. Local buses run along the coast road between Budva and Petrovac and stop on the main road above the islet, which is fine for the viewpoint if the timetable suits you; they do not go down to the causeway. Driving yourself means the coast road and, at the bottom, very limited parking that fills by mid-morning in season. For a beach afternoon, a viewpoint stop or a transfer with luggage, a licensed taxi booked in the app is the simplest way to arrive and, more importantly, to leave.
Common questions
The islet is a private resort and access for non-guests depends on the season and the operator. The beaches on either side of the causeway, the viewpoint on the main road and Miločer park are open to everyone, and that is where most visitors spend their time.
Either at the viewpoint on the main road above the islet, or down the lane at the causeway where the beaches begin. Say which one in the ride note; the walk between them is short but steep.
Book a MonteGO taxi with Sveti Stefan as the destination. The ride follows the coast road through Bečići and Pržno and is one of the shortest trips on the Riviera. Book the return in the app when you are ready to leave.
Coastal buses between Budva and Petrovac stop on the main road above the islet. They do not go down to the causeway, and in the late afternoon they fill up. For the beach or a fixed return time, a taxi is more practical.
Yes. Schedule the pickup for your landing time up to 10 days ahead and the driver meets you outside arrivals. Put the hotel or apartment name as the destination so the driver finds the right lane.
Open the app at the causeway or the viewpoint and request a ride, or schedule the return before you go down to the beach. Drivers circulate along the Riviera until late in season.
