Porto Montenegro by taxi
The marina village on Tivat's waterfront is where the Adriatic's yachts tie up and where a large share of the bay's visitors sleep, shop and eat. It is also a place built around walking, so knowing where a car can actually stop saves a lot of circling. This page covers the airport hop, the drop-off points, evenings out and the day trips that start here.

How do I get a taxi to Porto Montenegro?
Open the MonteGO app, set your pickup and choose Porto Montenegro, the Regent or your berth's nearest gate as the destination. A licensed local driver accepts, you see the car and plate, and you are dropped at one of the marina entrances on the main road; the village itself is pedestrian. From Tivat Airport it is the shortest airport ride on the coast, and the return can be scheduled up to 10 days ahead.
- Drop-off at the marina gates, the Regent or the shopping street entrance
- Pickup from the airport, Kotor, Budva or anywhere in Tivat
- Evenings and late returns covered by drivers who know the village
- Pay the driver directly, cash or card
How to book this ride
Set the destination by name
Type Porto Montenegro, the Regent, or the name of your building or restaurant. Drivers know the village entrances and pick the one closest to you.
Confirm and watch the car come
A nearby licensed driver accepts within moments; the app shows the car, colour and plate and its live position.
Meet at the gate and pay the driver
Cars stop at the marina entrances on the main road, not on the quays. You pay the driver directly at the end; the receipt stays in the app.
How the marina village is laid out for cars
Porto Montenegro sits on the old naval arsenal site along Tivat's waterfront, between the town centre and the Seljanovo shore. The interior, with the quays, the boutiques, the restaurants and the residences, is pedestrian; vehicles use the perimeter road and a handful of entrances. For a taxi that means one thing: you are dropped at an entrance and walk the last stretch, which is short, flat and, in the evening, the best part of arriving.
The entrances drivers use most are by the Regent hotel at the centre of the village, at the northern end near the shopping street and the yacht club, and at the southern end where the marina meets the town's Pine promenade. Mention which building, restaurant or jetty you are heading for and the driver chooses the closest one; if you are meeting a boat, the crew will usually tell you which gate is theirs.
From Tivat Airport to Porto Montenegro
This is the shortest airport ride on the Montenegrin coast, and it feels like it: out of the airport, along the edge of town, and into the marina's approach road before you have finished checking your messages. Book in the app on landing or schedule the pickup for your arrival time; the driver meets you outside the single arrivals exit and drops you at the entrance closest to your hotel or berth.
Guests joining a charter or a crew rotation often arrive with far more luggage than a normal holiday. Choose the larger vehicle option when you book, add the boat's name in the ride note, and the driver takes you to the right gate with everything in one car.
Evenings, restaurants and late returns
Porto Montenegro is where much of the bay goes out to dinner, which means the entrances are busy from early evening in summer. A driver dropping you will stop briefly at the gate; a driver collecting you needs a spot where the car can pause, so step out to the main road entrance rather than waiting deep inside the village. The app shows the car approaching, and the chat translates a quick 'by the Regent entrance' instantly.
Late returns to Kotor, Budva or the villas on the Luštica side are routine for drivers who work Tivat, and the ride can be scheduled during dinner so the car is at the gate when you finish. Coverage in the village stays good until well after midnight through the season.
Day trips from Porto Montenegro
Being in the middle of the coast makes the marina a natural base for day trips. Kotor's walled town is across the Vrmac ridge by tunnel; Perast and the island church of Our Lady of the Rocks are a short ride up the bay; Budva and Sveti Stefan are down the coast road; and Luštica Bay, the new marina town across the peninsula, is the easy afternoon out. Every one of these works as a taxi ride out with the return booked in the app when you are ready, or as a scheduled round trip if you prefer to fix the time.
Kotor Old Town
The classic half day: dropped at a gate, walked, collected at the same gate or the bus station.
Perast and Our Lady of the Rocks
Up the bay to the one-street town and the boat out to the island. Perast's waterfront is closed to cars in summer; drivers drop at the town entrance.
Luštica Bay and the beaches
Across the peninsula to the new marina, or to Plavi Horizonti and Almara beach, all reached by taxi without a parking hunt.
Budva and Sveti Stefan
Down the coast for the Old Town, the beaches and the famous islet viewpoint.
Other ways to get around from the marina
Honest comparison. On foot, Porto Montenegro connects directly to Tivat's centre along the promenade, and for the town itself you rarely need a car. Local buses run along the bay from stops on the main road but are infrequent and do not go to the airport. Renting a car from the marina is common among long-stay guests, but for the day trips above it mostly means parking hunts in Kotor and Perast. For the airport, evenings and the cross-bay trips, a licensed taxi booked in the app is the simplest option.
Common questions
Not onto the quays or the pedestrian village. Taxis drop and collect at the marina entrances on the main road: by the Regent hotel, near the shopping street and the yacht club, or at the southern end by the promenade. Name the building, restaurant or jetty and the driver picks the closest gate.
Book a MonteGO taxi in the app on landing, or schedule the pickup for your arrival time up to 10 days ahead. The driver meets you outside the arrivals exit and drops you at the marina entrance closest to your hotel or berth. It is the shortest airport ride on the coast.

Local buses stop on the main road along the bay and connect Tivat with Kotor and Budva, but they are infrequent and do not serve the airport. For a day trip with a fixed plan or a return after dark, a taxi booked in the app is more practical.
