How to book this ride
Book at the belt
Pickup Podgorica Airport; destination Bar port, the marina, your hotel, Stari Bar or Sutomore. Confirm.
Meet the car at the terminal
The app shows the car and plate; the pickup is outside arrivals.
Through the tunnel to the sea
South across the plain, through the Sozina tunnel, down to Bar. Pay on arrival.
Pickup at Podgorica Airport
The taxi pickup is directly outside the terminal beside the car park, and the app shows the car, colour and plate once the driver accepts. Terminal Wi-Fi is enough. If you are connecting to the Bari ferry, write 'Bar port, ferry terminal' as the destination and mention the sailing time in the chat; the driver will make sure you are dropped at the passenger entrance rather than the marina.
The road from the airport to Bar
This is the easiest of the coast rides from Podgorica. The road runs south from the airport across the plain, skirts the edge of Skadar Lake's marshes and enters the Sozina tunnel under the coastal mountains. On the far side it drops to the sea at Sutomore and follows the shore into Bar. There are no passes and no hairpins; it is a straight, fast road in all weather, which is why so many night rides use it.
Traffic is light except on summer weekends, when the road into Sutomore beach can slow down in the afternoon.
Where taxis stop in Bar and around
From MonteGO rides on this route:
Bar port, ferry terminal
The passenger entrance for the ferry to Bari. Say 'ferry terminal' and the driver takes you to the right gate, not the cargo or marina side.
The marina and the centre
The big marina and the promenade behind it, with the town's hotels and apartments along the boulevard. The driver stops at the door.
Stari Bar
The old town on the hill inland, with its ruins and the restaurants below the walls. Taxis go up to the car park at the entrance.
Sutomore and Šušanj
The beach suburb north of Bar and the bay between, dense with apartments and small hotels. Give the street or house name.
Bar railway and bus stations
Side by side near the centre, for the train to Podgorica and the north or coaches along the coast.
Ferries, night flights and luggage
Bar's ferry sails in the evening and many passengers arrive at Podgorica on afternoon or evening flights and go straight to the port. Say your sailing time in the chat and the driver plans accordingly. Night flights into Podgorica are routine and MonteGO drivers cover them; the tunnel road at night is quick. A standard car takes two large cases; choose the larger vehicle for more or for a group. Ferry passengers with a lot of luggage should say so when booking.
Other ways from Podgorica Airport to Bar
The train from Podgorica to Bar is one of the nicer rail journeys in the country, but it leaves from Podgorica station, not the airport, and runs a few times a day. Coaches run from the city bus station. Both mean a taxi to the station first and bags handled twice. Pre-booked transfers meet you with a sign. For a direct ride, and certainly for a ferry connection, a licensed taxi booked in the app is the simplest.
Bar to Podgorica Airport
Set the pickup to your hotel, the marina promenade, Sutomore or the port exit if you are arriving off the ferry, and step out when the app shows the car close. The tunnel road is quick and predictable, so the margin you need is modest outside summer weekends.
