Tivat Airport to Tivat and Porto Montenegro by taxi
The airport is practically in the town. That makes this the shortest airport ride in Montenegro and, for anyone staying at the marina, the easiest arrival of the whole trip. Here is how the pickup works, where drivers stop at the marina and along the seafront, and why a taxi still beats walking with luggage.

How to book this ride
Book from the baggage belt
Open MonteGO on airport Wi-Fi or your eSIM, set Tivat Airport as pickup and choose Porto Montenegro, your hotel name or a street in Tivat. Confirm.
Step outside and find the car
The app shows the driver's name, the car and the plate. The pickup area is directly outside the arrivals door, a few steps from the terminal.
Arrive before you have settled in
The ride is over almost as soon as it starts. Pay the driver in cash or by card at the door; the receipt is in the app.
Pickup at Tivat Airport
Tivat has a single small terminal with arrivals and departures side by side. When you confirm a MonteGO ride, the driver comes to the pickup area directly outside the arrivals door, and the app tells you the car's make, colour and plate. Because the terminal is so small, drivers are often already parked nearby by the time your bag comes off the belt; in the busiest August hours they may be a couple of minutes away, and you can watch the car approach on the map.
You do not need a local number or a Montenegrin SIM. The airport Wi-Fi is enough to confirm the ride, and the in-app chat translates both ways if you want to tell the driver where exactly you are standing.
What the ride into Tivat is like
The car leaves the airport onto the main road, passes the roundabout at the edge of town and follows the shore into Tivat. There is no tunnel, no mountain and, outside of summer weekends, very little traffic. In August the last few hundred metres along the waterfront can slow down as people stroll across to the beach and the marina, but it is a matter of minutes, not a delay worth planning around.
If your accommodation is on the far side of town, in Seljanovo, Donja Lastva or up the hill above the marina, the driver continues along the shore road or climbs the side streets; give the street or the house name when you book and the app pins it.
Where a taxi drops you in Tivat
These are the drop-off points MonteGO riders on this route actually use, in rough order of how often:
Porto Montenegro marina and the Regent
The marina village is car-free inside, so drivers drop you at the entrance nearest your berth, apartment or the Regent Porto Montenegro hotel. The hotel has its own forecourt; say 'Regent' and the driver takes you to the door.
SIRO Boka Place
The newer hotel and residences on the hill above the marina. Taxis drive right up to the entrance; on foot from the marina it is a climb, so the taxi is the sensible choice with luggage.
Hotel Palma and the Pine promenade
The old seafront hotel and the long pedestrian promenade along the bay. Drivers stop on the road behind the promenade; the walk to the water is a minute.
Kalimanj marina and Ribarski put
The smaller marina and the residential streets behind it, where many private apartments are. The taxi drops you at the door.
Tivat bus station
For coaches on to Kotor, Budva, Herceg Novi or Dubrovnik. It is a short ride from the airport and saves the walk with bags along the main road.
Luggage, boats and late-night landings
This route carries a lot of sailing luggage: people arriving for a charter week at Porto Montenegro with bags, provisioning and sometimes a folded bike. A standard car takes two large cases; choose the larger vehicle when you book for more, or for a group of five or more. Drivers will drop you as close to the pontoon gate as the marina allows.
Tivat sees late charter arrivals through the summer, and MonteGO drivers cover the airport at all hours. A ride into town after midnight is routine. If you like certainty, schedule the pickup for your landing time as soon as your flight is booked; the driver sees it in advance and you walk out to a car that is already assigned.
Other ways to get into Tivat
Honestly, for this ride the alternatives are few. There is no airport bus into town; the local bus stops on the main road outside the airport perimeter and runs on a timetable that does not follow flights. Hotel shuttles exist for a couple of the marina hotels, usually at a premium and only if arranged in advance. Walking is possible without bags. For almost everyone, a licensed taxi booked in the app is the simplest and quickest way to start the holiday.
Tivat and Porto Montenegro to the airport
Going home is as short as arriving, which is exactly why people leave it too late. Set the pickup to your hotel, the marina entrance nearest you or the street of your apartment, and step out when the app shows the car a minute away. From the marina, the driver cannot enter the village itself, so walk to the gate you were dropped at.
Schedule the ride in the app the evening before, especially for early departures; Tivat's departures hall gets busy in the first morning wave and it is nicer to arrive without rushing. A last swim, a coffee on the promenade, then a taxi that takes a few minutes: it is the rare airport run that does not spoil the final morning.
- Pickup at the marina gate or your hotel door
- Schedule it the evening before
- No need to leave hours early for a ride this short
Common questions
The marina is on the far side of Tivat town from the airport, close enough that the ride is one of the shortest airport transfers anywhere. With a MonteGO taxi you are at the marina gate within minutes of leaving arrivals.
The marina village is pedestrian inside. Taxis drop you at the entrance nearest your apartment or berth, or at the Regent's own forecourt. From there it is a short walk on flat ground.
No dedicated airport bus. Local buses pass on the main road outside the airport but do not follow flight times. A booked taxi is the practical option, particularly with luggage.
No. You pay the driver directly at the end, cash or card on the driver's terminal. There is no card charge or booking fee in the app.
Yes. Schedule it in MonteGO up to 10 days ahead with the pickup time and place. Drivers see scheduled rides in advance and the early-morning run is routine.
