Tivat Airport to Dobrota by taxi
Dobrota is the long waterfront settlement stretching north from Kotor's walls, and it is where a large part of Kotor's visitors actually stay: old stone captains' houses turned into apartments, small hotels on the water, and a couple of resorts. Getting there from Tivat means the tunnel, a pass along Kotor, then a narrow shore road. Here is how it works with a MonteGO taxi.

How to book this ride
Book at the belt
Pickup Tivat Airport; destination your Dobrota hotel, the apartment's house name or the street. Confirm.
Find the car outside arrivals
The app shows the car and plate. The pickup area is a few steps from the terminal door.
Tunnel, Kotor, shore road, door
The car goes through the tunnel, past Kotor's walls and along the water to your building. Pay the driver on arrival.
Pickup at Tivat Airport
Tivat has one small terminal and the taxi pickup is straight outside arrivals. Once you confirm, the driver heads to the pickup area and the app tells you the car, colour and plate. Wi-Fi in the terminal is enough to book; the chat translates instantly if you want to tell the driver you have a lot of luggage or a child seat request.
One tip specific to Dobrota: when you book, type the exact name of your building or host if you have it. Dobrota addresses are famously loose, with house names used more than numbers, and a driver who sees 'Villa X, Dobrota' in the request will already know the stretch of shore it is on.
The road from Tivat to Dobrota
The taxi takes the Vrmac tunnel from the Tivat side and emerges above Kotor. Instead of dropping into the town it continues along the bay road that runs north from the walls, with the water on the left and a solid line of stone houses on the right. This is Dobrota: one long road, one row of houses, the bay in front of them. The road is narrow and in summer a slow procession of cars, so the last part of the ride is about patience rather than distance.
If your accommodation is at the far northern end, towards Ljuta and the road to Perast, the driver keeps going along the shore; if it is on the hillside above the road, in the newer apartment blocks, the car climbs a side lane. Either way, the driver stops as close as the road physically allows and the walk is usually seconds.
Where taxis stop along Dobrota
Drop-off points MonteGO riders on this route actually use:
Huma Kotor Bay Hotel & Villas
The resort at the northern end, set right on the water with its own entrance off the shore road. Say the name and the driver takes you to the door.
Hotel Splendido and Hotel Alkima
Smaller hotels on the waterfront in the middle stretch, with entrances directly on the road. The taxi pulls in at the door.
Plagente
The area around the old Plagente quarter, dense with restored stone apartments. Give the house name; the lanes are short and the driver stops at the shore road.
Tomići
The stretch nearer Kotor with many apartments and the road up to the Kotor–Cetinje serpentine. A frequent pickup point too, for guests heading out on day trips.
Put I Bokeljske Brigade
The shore road itself. If you cannot find your host's name, the road name plus a landmark, a church or a restaurant, is enough for the driver.
Luggage, stairs and night arrivals
Many Dobrota apartments are in old houses reached by a few steps up from the road or down to a small jetty. The taxi gets you to the road; ask your host about the last few metres if you have heavy bags or limited mobility. A standard car takes two large cases; for a group of five or more choose the larger vehicle when booking.
Late landings are normal at Tivat in summer and MonteGO drivers cover the airport around the clock. Dobrota at night is quiet and easy to reach; schedule the pickup for your landing time if you want to arrive without opening the app at all.
Other ways to reach Dobrota
A local bus runs along the shore road between Kotor and the Perast direction, but it does not start at the airport and does not run to flight times. Pre-booked transfer companies will bring you with a sign. Renting a car for a stay in Dobrota is a mixed blessing: it is useful for day trips to Lovćen or Cetinje, but parking on the shore road in summer is a daily problem and most old houses have none.
For arrival and departure, a licensed taxi booked in the app is the simplest option, especially because the driver can find your house by name.
Dobrota to Tivat Airport
Set the pickup to your house name or the shore road plus a landmark, and step out to the road when the app shows the car close. On cruise days and summer mornings the road past Kotor is slow, so schedule the ride in the app the evening before and leave more margin than the short distance suggests. Once through the tunnel the airport is minutes away and check-in at Tivat is quick.
- Pickup on the shore road at your house or a landmark
- Schedule it the evening before
- Extra margin on cruise days
